As the Eraser function of Plextor drives haven't been given too much attention I thought I'd comment on it. For those that don't know, Eraser is a feature that allows you to destroy any written disc so it cannot be read. This procedure can destroy the entire disc, or just the TOC plus a bunch of random areas of the drive. I tested it, it works. When time is a concern, and it usually is, the 'quick' erase method takes about 2 minutes, the same as quick erasing a cd-rw disc. I don't know about all of you, but if I want a disc destroyed I could either put it through Eraser and wait 2 minutes, or I could simply snap the disc in half which takes about 1-2 seconds. Is this feature plausible for me? No, but I could see where it could be. Snapping discs in half might not be seen as 'professional' in a business like or studio environment. Snapping discs also poses the threat of impaling your hand on a shard of plastic.
